Porcupine Ice Cream Balls with Warm Cherry Sauce

8 cups corn flakes, crushed to make 4 cups
1/2 cup slivered almonds
1/4 cup margarine
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/8 teaspoon salt vanilla ice cream

Warm Cherry Sauce
1 can cherry pie mix
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/3 cup cherry liquid

Make 8 large ice cream balls.

Mix corn flakes and almonds.

Combine margarine, sugar, syrup and salt and place over medium heat and allow mixture to cook until syrup bubbles completely. Remove and add corn flakes mixture. Stir to coat, then turn out on large area covered with wax paper. Separate with 2 forks. Cool.

Roll balls in cool corn flakes mixture and return to freezer.
